More about Kasia

Who am I?

My name is Kasia and I simply cannot live without traveling. I was born in Eastern Europe but raised in America. I have a home base in New Jersey and while my taxes may be high and my apartment may be small, I love the diversity, the food, the sweet access to airports, and the proximity to NYC.

My career started as a Research Scientist who spent years at the bench looking at liver cells. I then became a Data Scientist, now looking at tons of data trying to make sense of it. Having a full-time (rather fulfilling) career doesn’t give me much flexibility to drop my life and travel, but with the right planning and smart vacation day-saving, it’s possible for me to take trips all year round. If I can’t travel internationally, I will find a perfect weekend getaway somewhere nearby.

How I started Perfect Day Somewhere

My love for travel started in the most cliche way possible. I studied abroad and ever since, I haven’t been able to stop moving. I have 11 years of non-stop adventures under my belt and when the world shut down, I decided to share it all here.

My research background certainly contributes to how I plan my trips. Since most of my trips are relatively short, I need to make sure that my itineraries are filled up nicely. What kind of travel do I like? Planned yet flexible. Filled with history yet with time for fun. Open and curious. Full of good food, good alcohol, and awesome people.

My niche focuses on traveling often but also having a career and a home base to come home to. But you know the best thing about the travel community? There is literally a niche for everyone. So if you’d like to live that nomad life or you like slow travel, you might not like my page and that’s ok. I have a whole Travel Directory with other blogs I personally enjoy reading that cover other niches.
